Chief Crump is an asset to our community. I got to know him through mutual friends and have learned a lot about him, his family, and his plans for our sheriff’s department. Jasen is a man of character, well principled, a Christian, and an experienced law enforcement officer and department administrator. I know through getting to know him, his family, and colleagues that he is the man we need as St.Francois County Sheriff. In 2024 you have the chance to fix our sheriff’s department that has plagued our county with lawsuits. In 2024 Vote Crump and so we have the new sheriff in town that we need!! — Steve Baechle

Even though it is still quite early in the election process, I felt compelled to want give testimony about Jason Crump from the perspective of an officer that works under his command.

You see I am a current employee of Chief Crump with the Ste. Genevieve Police Department and have been for the past ten, almost eleven years. Prior to working with SGPD I was a deputy with the St. Francois County Sheriff's Office where I was employed there for nine and a half years. When I came to SGPD I must be honest, I truly lacked a great deal of knowledge and skill even though I had been in law enforcement prior to that for nearly a decade.

From day one with SGPD Chief Crump, who was our Lieutenant at the time, challenged me to become a better police officer. He constantly through positive reinforcement, instruction and mentoring gave me the tools to achieve a greater knowledge base for becoming the best law enforcement officer I could be. Anytime he would see I was struggling or not performing to the best of my capabilities he would always steer me in the right direction and still does to this day. Chief Crump leads by example and never has any of his officers do anything that he would not do himself. He knows how to handle about any situation that may arise from criminal matters that arise from calls for service to employee issues. If an incident occurs that may require an outside agency, (I.e. county, state or federal) he is never to prideful to not request their assistance. Chief Crump has the backs of his officers but, will also make sure we conduct ourselves in a matter that presents ourselves as professionals. He will not allow us to act any other way and will take the most appropriate action to correct us if disciplinary implications are necessary.

Approximately seven years ago, Chief Crump entrusted me with the promotion to a supervisor position and I have been the Sergeant for SGPD ever since. I will always be eternally grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility that is associated with being a supervisor.

Chief Crump has also always cared about our personal lives and he cares that we always have time with our families. I have a rather large family that are very active in sports and Chief Crump has always allowed me to be able to attend as many events for my children as possible. He has even went so far as covering shifts for me so I would not miss out on events. And that is a Chief doing that. How many officers can say their Chief did that for them. He answers calls for service right along with us and even conducts his own traffic stops. He is a well rounded law enforcement professional and can handle nearly any incident that occurs.

There are many rumors going around that current employees of SFCSO are in fear that if elected, Chief Crump will fire them all and start over. I am here to tell you that nothing could be further from the truth. I promise all those that doubt him, if elected Chief Crump will give you all the tools necessary to achieve success. You just have to give him a chance.

By now you have seen Chief Crump make numerous posts outlining his vision and plan of action if he is elected the next sheriff of St. Francois County and I am her to say he means ever word of it. Chief Crump will work tirelessly and almost to the point of obsessive exhaustion until he completes a task he sets out to achieve. He backs up every word he says!!

This will probably not be my last post about Chief Crump but, I wanted to touch base and give you all a perspective from a current employee of Chief Crump. In the coming months I would also like to testify to how he interacts with the community and how he implements strategies when a problem arises. Though I am just one person I don’t expect you to take my word at face value. I implore you all to do your own research on Chief Crump and I encourage you to contact him should you want further explanation on his vision as sheriff. But, Chief Crump, Jasen, has my admiration and respect and I am honored to have him be both a great mentor and even a friend!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Current Police Officer under Chief Jasen Crump

As my law enforcement supervisor for many years, Jasen Crump has left a lasting impression on me through his dedication, hard work, and exceptional leadership skills.
Working with Jasen on a daily basis showed me consistently that he exhibited a strong work ethic that set a high standard for the other officers and myself. Jasen was unwaveringly committed to his responsibilities, often going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

On many occasions Jasen would work the overnight shift himself so he would not be forced to call an officer that was off-duty and ask them to cover a shift. When working alongside Jasen, he was always the first one to back me up on traffic stops, or he would be out conducting traffic stops himself, which is unheard of from an administrator. He always managed to juggle his administrative responsibilities while also being an asset on the road alongside us. We always felt he was just part of the team, never fostering an “Us vs Them” environment.

Jasen always took the time to listen to his officers, as well as all members of the community. His interpersonal skills were very impressive. Through engaging the community and always having his ear to the ground, he was able to have his finger on the pulse of the crime and those most often breaking the law. When I would have a report from an overnight crime, Jasen would usually already have a couple of avenues I could lead my investigation.

Being a mentor and a role model to many, and also imparting his knowledge and expertise helped others and myself grow and excel in our roles.

As a former Police Officer under Jasen Crump’s leadership, I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy for Sheriff of St. Francois County!
